The glass passes through a series of continuous conveying equipment on the insulating glass production line, such as conveyor belts or rollers, to smoothly and quickly transfer the glass blocks to the lighting inspection equipment. This step ensures the stable transportation of glass and provides basic guarantee for subsequent quality inspection.
At the beginning of the lighting inspection section, a set of strong light source LED lights is usually equipped. This special light source can provide uniform, bright and constant color light, making defects on the glass more obvious. Whether it is tiny scratches, bubbles or other surface defects, they cannot escape light exposure and inspection.
The operator of the light inspection equipment then stands next to the glass and uses his or her own vision as well as professional observation tools to carefully inspect for any imperfections on the surface of the glass. Their expertise and experience allow them to accurately identify defects such as bubbles, streaks, scratches, bumps or dents.
Once a defect is discovered, the operator will immediately use specific tools or methods (such as marking or labeling) to distinguish the problematic glass piece from the normal glass piece, thereby eliminating the defective glass. This method effectively ensures quality and can classify and deal with defects according to their type and extent.
Of all detected defects, operators classify and evaluate them based on factors such as their appearance, size, location, and their own professional judgment. If defects do not meet quality standards, appropriate action will be taken, which may include scrap, repair or re-processing. This strict quality determination and management process helps ensure the final quality of insulating glass products.
With the continuous development of technology, computer vision technology and image analysis software have also been introduced into some advanced glass production lines to assist operators in automated defect detection. The application of these advanced technologies not only improves detection accuracy and reduces misjudgment rates, but also significantly improves production efficiency. Despite this, for most small and medium-sized glass production companies, the cost of introducing this advanced technology is still high, so they need to choose suitable equipment and technology based on their actual situation and needs.
