Why does insulating glass become moldy?

2024-11-09 08:52:46

If mildew still appears on the glass under normal conditions, there are generally two reasons.

One reason is the product quality of the sealant. Insulating sealed glass usually has two layers of sealant. The second layer of sealant is a two-component silicone sealant. Silicone sealant usually reacts when it comes into contact with the air. After the moisture is released, it will solidify into a super-tough rubber like solid material. Generally speaking, it can be cured in one month. After curing, the two-component silicone sealant has very strong structure and ductility and can withstand large tension.

The sealing performance of insulating glass is very dependent on the overall structure, and after the insulating glass is put into use, it will always be eroded by the external environment, such as strong sunlight, ultraviolet rays, water vapor. If there is a problem with the sealant structure, the sealing performance and functionality of the insulating glass will be lost. External water vapor will enter the inside of the insulating glass, and then a chemical reaction will occur with the interior, leading to mildew.
